About me

About me

My name is actually Debbie, though my husband is an Aussie and has called me Sheila for years! We and our daughter live in the historic market town of Tonbridge, Kent, in the Garden of England.

As a family we love visiting Whitstable on the north Kent coast. The beach there is our happy place where all year round we often spend hours collecting oyster shells of all shapes and sizes. These include oval, pear-shaped and round shells, and in shades of pink, mauve, grey and white. Best of all, the porcelain white inside each shell is to me just pure perfection. Crafted by nature, each shell is unique with its own natural beauty.

I saw the potential for these wonders of the sea as decorative ornaments and trinket dishes during the first UK Covid-19 lockdown in 2020. I set about painting some of the shells I’d collected in different ways and also learning how to apply decoupage patterns, which was a lot more challenging than I’d anticipated.

My hobby has since grown into a niche artisan business, enabling me to enjoy crafting shells for other people to enjoy too. It gives me such pleasure to see where my shells end up, which now includes locations all around the world. I love seeing my creations add colour and style to people's homes, whether bought for themselves or as gifts.

More recently I have begun offering a bespoke design service that helps people preserve special memories using designs featuring loved ones, important places or capturing special times.

I am also proud to support Katharine House Hospice in Adderbury, Oxfordshire, and Hospice in the Weald in Pembury, Kent. I donate products to both their shops and run occasional workshops in the Pembury hospice.
